Located in front of an impressive alpine panorama is Lucerna, the gateway to Central Switzerland, on the shores of Lake Lucerne.

The image of the city of Lucerne is characterized by the medieval bridge Kapellbrücke, with its pediments painted one of the oldest wooden roofed bridges in Europe. Another well-known monument of the city is the Museggmauer wall, which, with the exception of one tower, has retained its fortified character. The historic houses, decorated with frescoes, are located in the old town, closed to cars, in picturesque squares such as the wine market (Weinmarkt).

Lucerna is a city of squares and churches. The Jesuit church of the seventeenth century is considered the first religious baroque work in Switzerland, with the two towers of the church “Hofkirche” characteristic monuments of the city. The dying lion, cut into the rock in commemoration of the Swiss who died as heroes in 1792 in the Tuileries, is one of the most famous monuments in Switzerland. With the Bourbaki panorama of 112 meters long, Lucerna has one of the few monumental paintings preserved in the world.
